Dan was born and raised in Colorado in an outfitting family and has spent his life riding, hunting, fishing, and working cattle in the West Elk Wilderness. His deep-rooted knowledge of this rugged country comes from decades in the saddle and generations of experience based out of Paonia.
Heidi moved to Colorado over 30 years ago and shares Dan’s passion for the outdoors, agriculture, faith, and family. With a background in education and a lifelong love of hunting and western heritage, she feels most at home cooking over a campfire, riding high-country trails, and sharing this lifestyle with others.
Together with their children and grandchildren, Dan and Heidi continue to raise cattle and horses while sharing their love of the West Elk Wilderness and their passion for the outdoors with every guest. We look forward to welcoming you into our camp—and our extended family.
Tenderfoot Outfitters, LLC operates under a special use permit on the Gunnison National Forest. We are fully licensed (#3677), bonded and insured and are an equal opportunity provider.
Our guides and wranglers are experts in horsemanship and outdoor skills. Safety is our first priority. All employees are first aide/CPR certified. Horses and mules are quiet, gentle, and surefooted. Helmets available upon request.
